Let's Go Skiing...

Dave and I are committed.  We are going to be skiers this season.

It seems that 2 Colorado natives should be rockstars on the slopes, but Dave and I had not been skiing in years.  I actually have not skied since 2nd grade.  It was only a half day up at A-Basin, but it was enough for me!  I was exhausted after only 3 runs.  But I did it!  I skied down the mountain!  Dave was a great teacher and was very patient with me.  I only cried once.  I cried out of fear and a bit of frustration.

All in all, we are both extremely excited for the season ahead of us!

Holiday Season

This means Die Hard, Home Alone and Elf.  It means overpaying for a crappy tree from a tree farm in Greeley, crock-pot stews roasting all day, Mariah Carey, Christmas Shoes (the song), stockings hanging on our NEW mantle, and looking forward to working, oh I mean spending time with family.  With Dave and I both in the medical field, the holidays are rough.  Dave works Christmas Eve, I on the other hand work on Christmas Day.  Perfect.  But, we will enjoy the time we have together and when we are with family.  Thank goodness for family being 1 hour away in two different directions.  It is a blessing to have people close this holiday season.

Cutting our tree down.
It's a beauty.

David and Beth's Charlie Brown Tree

Family Shot!  Asher was sooooo pumped!  Ha.

Happy to be spending the evening together.  Merry Christmas.

Operation 2 Cars-in-the-Garage

Mission complete.

We got both cars and all our crap to fit in the garage!  Successful winter season.

Asher loves the new place...

Asher loves the windows of the new place!

I never realized it, but Ash did not get to see much action at the old apartment.  Now, we are across the street from a park and there are tons of dogs and squirrels that she stares at all day.  She is such a sweetie and has blessed our lives immensely.

And here is a picture of Ash enjoying the sunshine.

Incredible Weather

November 30th, 2012: Dave and I went on a bike ride and had a picnic outside.  It was almost 70 degrees and sunny. Absolutely incredible!
December 1st, 2012: Hiking and walking around Golden in a t-shirt and pants.  Wow.

The weather has been beautiful and warm.  I guess it is concerning and not ideal for the ski resorts, but for Dave and I, it was a blessing.  We were able to spend a few great days together and get a little sun on our faces.  It was glorious:)

Bemis Girl's Weekend

I ventured down to Phoenix for a long weekend to watch my two nieces while Carrie and Joe enjoyed a weekend sans kids in San Francisco.  On Friday, Carrie was able to show me the routine and point out where everything in the house was.  On Saturday, I was on my own with two beautiful girls...

I was brave and decided to take Carlie and Tessa to the zoo.  Actually, the Phoenix Wildlife World Zoo and Aquarium.

It was only 15 minutes from their house and I anticipated a short adventure, but we were there for 3-4 hours!  We walked around the entire park, petting zoo and aquarium.  The petting zoo was filled with tiny deer and goats.  Carlie loved the baby deer and the goats were busy trying to eat our clothing! The zoo had lots of trees, greenery and many exotic animals.  We saw a baby giraffe, baby leopard, tons of macaws, albino crocodiles, kangaroos, and penguins that mimicked Carlie.

On Sunday, we ventured out to Carlie's Christmas play rehearsal.  Tessa and I enjoyed the music and lovely weather while Carlie practiced.  Carlie got a snack after practice which consisted of Cheetos and juice.  So, I got a picture of the two Bemis girls chowing on Cheetos!

Carrie loved it!  After that, we had a movie afternoon!  Filled with Tessa napping, CareBears Movie circa 1985, candy, popcorn and PIZZA for dinner!  It was great to spend time with just Carlie and snuggle since the movie is a little bit scary.

Monday morning was filled with music, singing and playing upstairs with toys.

Carlie sang, danced and Tessa giggled and mimicked her sister.  It was a beautiful sight.  We also went on a bike ride, played in the back yard and cleaned up for mom and dad to come home.  They arrived in the afternoon, followed by me leaving:(

Tessa enjoyed dragging my purse around the house!  Too cute!

I miss those girls so much!  It was such a wonderful, special time with the two of them.  I got to snuggle Tessa each night before bed.  I got to read and sing to Carlie before her bedtime.  I got to see Carlie ride her bike, read stories to me, care for her sister, beat up her sister, watch her play with fairies and enjoy life.  Tessa was a joy to see walking, playing with dvd's and anything else she shouldn't play with, adore her sister, mimic her sister, eat all day, and smile and laugh so beautifully.   Those two girls are very special and I am thankful for the weekend together   Surprisingly it was not too hard and I can't wait to go back and see them!  Love you Bemis Family!

Casa Del Sol No Longer...

We moved from the Casa Del Sol on November 3rd.  We are now renting a townhouse about a mile from where we were living.  We are enjoying the new digs and are mostly done unpacking.  I have some pictures to hang, but it feels like home already.

Pumpkin & Snow

Dave and I carved one pumpkin this year.  It was from his parents garden and it was full of yummy seeds that I toasted.  This pumpkin turned out to look almost like a kitty with tiny fangs.  Very fitting since Asher was super curious about the carving.
It snowed Wednesday night into Thursday morning.  I took this picture from our kitchen and it does not do it justice, but the snow froze the city in a very picturesque way.  All of the trees looked fake with snow, the temperatures were chilly all day and it was sprinkling snow in the morning.  Quite beautiful to you the truth.

******I start my new job tomorrow, I turn 28 on Tuesday, and we move on Saturday. Wow. Just wow...*****

I got a job!

I start work as a Registered Respiratory Therapist on October 29th at Swedish Medical Center in Denver, CO.  I am very excited (and scared)!  I rotated as a student at Swedish and loved the staff, facility and thought it would be a great fit.  Little did I know that the staff loved me as well and I got offered a job at the beginning of October.  My interview with the Director was great and I felt super excited to join their staff.  Wahoo!  I am pumped:)

I passed all my boards and I am now an RRT!!

I am ready to apply for jobs and hope to find one soon, but maybe I will relish in the knowledge that I worked my booty off and am very blessed to be successful and ready for a job that I know I will love.

Quickie at the Great Sand Dunes

Dave woke up from working an overnight shift around noon and asked me what we should do for the afternoon.  I said I wasn't sure.  Dave said, "let's drive to the Sand Dunes." Okay. One hour later we were driving to Southern Colorado to see the tallest dunes in North America.  As the dunes came into view, it looked more like a mirage, sand got dumped into the middle of this landscape.  Mountain peaks, grasslands, annnnnnnd SAND!  The dunes are beautiful and we got to watch the sun set behind the dunes from our camp.  In the morning we set out to the top of the highest dune.  Actually a pretty tough hike considering the sand gobbled up your feet as you hike straight up.  But it was well worth the sweat and sandy shoes.  The views were breathtaking and we loved our time there.  On our way out of the park we stopped at a hike to Zapata Falls.  Once you reach the the water, you have to navigate on the side of the freezing cold stream to get back to see the waterfall.  It ended up being awesome and we were so pumped to see a the 25 ft. waterfall.  Yet again, I am thankful for an active, adventure-seeking, brave, sleep-deprived, and kick-A$$ husband!  I enjoyed this quickie of a trip to the dunes and very appreciative for spontaneous adventures!

Otten Time

This weekend Dave and I attended a wedding of a family friend.  This meant that his parents and brother and sister were going to be there.  Taryn, Bryan's girlfriend, was also able to make it, so we had a great time getting to know her.  On Saturday, Bryan, Taryn, Kailey, Dave and I went to breweries in Fort Collins and Loveland before the wedding.  It was fun tasting beer, quizzing Taryn about her life goals, laughing at ourselves and just relaxing.  The wedding was held in Loveland and the reception was in the Rozum's backyard.  This was in the Otten's old neighborhood, so many family friends were there.  We definitely ruled the dance floor with our mad skillz.  The Cupid Shuffle and Whistle were among my most favorite of the night.  Congrats to Bri and Shayne! And thank you for a wonderful night!
