FIVE MONTHS!

Lucy is working on her fine motor skills.  She is grabbing things, even small tags, with intent, and then putting them in her mouth.  It is amazing to watch her curiosity and concentration.  It cracks me up that sometimes she likes a toys tag as much as the toy itself.

Lucy has almost rolled from her back to her tummy, but her arm keeps getting stuck beneath her.  She is swinging her hips and looking over her shoulders often while on her back.  Again, this is amazing to see, but scary to think that the changing table is no longer safe.

Lucy is full of smiles.  She loves her reflection, or the “baby in the mirror”.  We joke because that baby follows Lucy everywhere; to the store, to Phoenix, to the bathroom, and even on her toys!

Speaking of Phoenix, Dave and I traveled with Lucy to visit my sister and her family.  It was a wonderful trip.  Lucy did amazing on the flights.  She fussed for a few moments, but I think it was her ears, so I nursed her and she chilled out.  While in Phoenix, we went to a Rockies Spring Training Game, my sister and I ran a half marathon, relaxed, played with our nieces, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay with the Bemis Family!

Lucy is such a rock star at sleeping on the go, getting dragged where ever, and remaining her cool, calm and collected self…at least most of the time.  She is a trooper and I am proud of her each day.

I love her so much and I feel so blessed to watch her grow and learn new things on a daily basis.

Carrie finished her first half-marathon!  Way to go!

Lucy @ 4 months old

What is Lucy up to these days?  Well...

What is Lucy up to these days?  Well...

Lucy currently weighs about 14 pounds and is such a cutie.  She enjoys chewing on fingers, toys, and stuffed animals, just about everything.  She enjoys standing in her exer-saucer and making the cheesy music play.  She loves her dragonfly toy.  It is colorful, has many different fabrics, has rings on it and is overall Lucy’s favorite toy.  She does enjoy Sophie and “Mr.Moon” (it’s the rabbit from Goodnight Moon).  Lucy is getting more vocal and as of late she enjoys the more high pitched and loud variety of her voice.  But hearing her coo, ooh, and ahh in her crib after naps is one of our favorite noises.  She just lays there kicking her legs and squealing out of enjoyment and happiness.  I hope this continues.  Something new this week with Lucy is that she is seeing Asher more and follows her everywhere with her eyes.  She seems to be fascinated by her kitty and Asher has tolerated her looking from afar.

She also just started sitting up this week. Not quite trustworthy yet but can sit for stretches at a time with us close to make sure she doesn’t fall too hard. She also seems to recognize her name. Not sure if that is just our inflection but she seems to look when we say it.

Lucy seems to be a very content baby but also has a strong-willed side to her personality.  She can be difficult to get to sleep.  She doesn't want to miss anything and she thinks we are partying all the time.
Lucy a light in our lives and many other lives.  We are so thankful for her each and every day.  I feel blessed to be able to stay home with her and I cherish our time together.

Like father, like daughter...

2 Months

Miss Lucy turned 2 months old on Monday.

I can't believe how much she has grown and how fast she is changing.  First thing in the morning after she wakes up and gets changed, we go downstairs and she sits in her vibrating papasan chair and I sit on a pillow in front of her.  She smiles and coos and ahhs while I talk to her, drink my coffee and enjoy seeing her beautiful shining face.  We usually sing songs and read a few books.  After about an hour or so she gets tired and lays down for a nap.  My mornings are typically the best part of the day with Lucy.  When the weather is good, we usually take a walk mid-morning.  These walks are keys to my sanity and peace.  I feel like it enables me to smell fresh air and talk to Lucy about what I see; birds chirping, noisy dump trucks driving, crazy old lady feeding the squirrels, dogs catching frisbees... It is a special time with her.

What is Lucy up to these days?  Smiling and cooing. It is awesome.  Her face lights up and she seems to be on the edge of breaking into laughter.

Love her deeply.
